We believe educating and informing our customers is at the core of a home inspection, not simply putting together a list of red flags.  With a combined 50+ years in the business of inspecting homes, our inspectors have seen a lot.  Some may even believe we have "seen it all", but every day brings the possibility of new defects.  While the inspection of a building is intended to identify  larger, structural, safety and habitability problems, we commonly come across many littler ones.  These are commonly nuisance problems, or have low impact to owners.

Services

Building Inspection

An inspection is a limited visual inspection of readily accessible components throughout the building and testing equipment or fixtures using normal controls.  Our inspections begin in the interior with inspecting all of the windows, doors, floors, walls, ceilings, outlets, light fixtures, plumbing fixtures, drains, tubs, toilets, showers and fireplaces.  We will then test and inspect the heating/cooling system, plumbing system, electrical system and main panel box.  Next, we will enter the attic to inspect the framing, insulation and accessible wiring.  Then we will inspect the accessible foundation area walls, framing, plumbing and accessible wiring.  Next, we will inspect the exterior finishing systems, doors, windows, and accompanying components.  Lastly, we will inspect the grounds surrounding the building and review the roof coverings, chimney, flashing, guttering, and down spouts.

Termite

Wood destroying insects can cause significant damage to the structure of a home.  Termites, carpenter ants, carpenter bees, and others consume organic construction materials in various stages of decomposition, and nest inside homes.

Radon

ALL foundation types can be affected by Radon.  Rn is a naturally occurring radioactive gas that can cause lung cancer.  You can’t see or smell radon. Testing is the only way to know your level of exposure.  Radon can have a big impact on indoor air quality. - US EPA

Mold

Mold can cause many health effects. For some people, mold can cause a stuffy nose, sore throat, coughing or wheezing, burning eyes, or skin rash. People with asthma or who are allergic to mold may have severe reactions. Immune-compromised people and people with chronic lung disease may get infections in their lungs from mold. -CDC

Well & Septic

  1. WELL - A private well water system can be affected by surface contaminants. Pumps and pressure tanks can become deteriorated and fail without warning.  A well inspection includes water testing for coliform, ecoli and fecal coliform.  Additional water testing for Nitrite/Nitrate and Lead contamination are available.
  2. SEPTIC - Repair or replacement of a septic system can be very costly.  Septic systems handle the disposal of sewage from a home's plumbing system.  A septic dye test can identify failures and poor performance in performance of these systems.
